everytime after working at a food fair, i would think about this: how do freaking parents teach and discipline their kids nowadays? they have freaking no manners or self-conciousness you know. so irritating! they want samples, they reach into your counter and grab your sampling cups by the bunch, and wave the cups in your face to ask for samples. like what?! are you begging or something for goodness sake. seriously! they have no issue of respect here. so you think what, promoters are there to serve you like you're royalty? oh please. wake up from your ideas man, parents of obnoxious kids. we are there for the sole purpose of introducing our products to you, and to facilitate the transaction of money and goods. we are NOT there to serve and please your kids just so you'd get a small bottle of drink that the amount that we earn is practically insignificant. some parents are the best i swear. when you leave your bottle of sample on the table, turning your back to get their change, they reach in and grab the whole bottle and fill up all the sampling cups of their kids and grandmas and grandpas to the top, leaving only half the bottle after the whole round. and they put it back onto the table without saying even a slightest 'thank you' to you after consuming more than half a bottle or your freaking sample. seriously, i have no idea what singaporean parents are turning their children into. sample-detecting freaks? the kids just go anywhere where there's samples. and they wont budge until you give them a cup of sample. some are even worse, they dont even leave until they've had their fill. when you dont pour for them, they start asking you 'can i have more sample?' or 'can i have more? just now not enough.' i mean like, what? dont you feel paiseh asking for so much samples? do you not have shame? and you didnt even ask your mum or dad or whoever to buy after you drink so much. it's annoying. and the thing is that as a promoter, i cant say no to anyone who wants to try a sample. i cant stop them. but i swear the kiasu-ness of singaporeans is really getting to me.
so parents, please, do not teach your kids the wrong things! dont ask them to go around and beg for samples, it just makes you and your kids look pathetic for goodness sake. we should have a good culture and dont bring disgrace to our country. only sample when you are interested. not just take and go just because it's free! -.-
